Pepperdog video analytics selected for automated station surveillance pilot at train operator southern

Train operator uses RAPiD system to combat fatal track incursions and anti-social behaviour

Berkshire, United Kingdom - Pepperdog Video Analytics today announced the selection of its RAPiD software by train operator Southern for a pilot video analysis application following a 3 month trial against strong competition.

Southern has recently upgraded its CCTV system and is now focused on identifying deliberate and potentially fatal track incursions as well as anti-social or disruptive behaviour at any one of the 160 stations in its network. A major undertaking with the large number of CCTV cameras installed.

Pepperdog's RAPiD product was selected for its accuracy in reliably detecting and alerting operations staff to high impact events in an environment where the constant flow of trains made false positive alerts a major issue.

David Hynes, Head of Security for Southern, said: "We are committed to investing in technology where it can be a real benefit to our customers and staff. We are confident that Pepperdog will help to make our security systems more effective and it is good to see that small British companies continue to innovate and compete effectively against the best the world can offer. Hopefully RAPiD will help Southern to continue to deliver services which have seen customer satisfaction rising to over 80%."
