CoVi Technologies and ObjectVideo are selected for Autonomous Protection System Aboard Navy Ships

Reston, VA and Austin, TX (October 31, 2006) - CoVi Technologies and ObjectVideo®, the leader in intelligent video, announced today Applied Marine Technology Inc. (AMTI) has selected them as technology partners for enhanced shipboard security for the Navy. AMTI’s Digital Video Surveillance System (DVSS) utilizes CoVi’s high definition networked video platform in combination with ObjectVideo’s embedded video analytics to provide proactive monitoring, situational awareness and response mechanisms aboard Navy ships.

AMTI developed the DVSS in direct response to communications and damage control problems discovered in an investigation following the bombing of the U.S.S. Cole in 2000.

DVSS features CoVi’s SCAN platform and edge devices to intelligently transport and record images in high definition. Industry leading video analytics from ObjectVideo OnBoard™ are embedded in the CoVi cameras to provide proactive, real-time monitoring of critical infrastructure while minimizing bandwidth consumption on shipboard networks. These intelligent cameras provide around-the-clock monitoring, allowing for security and safety personnel to be alerted in real time whenever a potential crisis occurs in any of the ship’s critical locations. AMTI’s DVSS is contracted under the Navy’s DDG (destroyer class) Modernization Program and will first be used in the DDG 51 Arleigh Burke Class of destroyers.

"On top of its situational awareness capabilities, DVSS will also help mitigate the problem of long-term ship obsolescence," says Matt Winans, the DVSS program engineer at AMTI's Southern Pines location. "Not only is the system highly intelligent, it offers plug-and-play ease of installation, operation and maintenance."

“ObjectVideo is honored to be part of this project that will provide optimal security using the best in intelligent video surveillance,” said Melchior Baltazar, Vice President Critical Infrastructure Protection, ObjectVideo.

Barry Walker, CEO of CoVi Technologies concludes, “AMTI has a great reputation in the defense sector for identifying weaknesses, bringing together best of class technologies and providing a comprehensive, long term solution. CoVi Technologies is honored to be selected by AMTI as the video network platform for the DVSS system and providing embedded, edge based video analytics from the industry leader, ObjectVideo.”
